Control of a Mechanical Resonant System
Overview
This project was to design a drive circuit to control a mechanical resonant device. A mirror was fixed to the oscillating member to be used to sweep a light beam.
The resonance device was a spring and mass system, with a magnet attached to the mass. An electromagnet was driven by a circuit to push and pull the magnet. An optical sensor provided position information to the circuit for applying the injected force at the proper timing to optimize the oscillation amplitude.
