General Motors Power Window Controller
Overview
This project was to design an aftermarket replacement for a General Motors power window/door control module. It was a redesign of the module and had to be a drop-in replacement. The design was sucessful and the product has been in production for 10 years.
Controlled Functions
The module controlled the power windows, door locks, mirror position control, and the memory seat functions.
Communication & Reverse Engineering
The module communicated via OBD J1850 VPW using GM class 2 protocol. The exact communication behavior for the controlled functions were undocumented and each had to be captured and reverse engineered.
